To set up the Base Station for basic operation in a non-permanent configuration, follow these detailed steps:

1

Antenna Setup

  • Pull out the black radio antenna from its placeholder so that it points straight downward. This orientation maximizes signal coverage and ensures reliable communication.
2

Tripod Mounting

  • Securely screw the Base Station onto the tripod.
    • Position it in an area with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky to facilitate optimal satellite signal reception.

The Base Station has a maximum effective range of ½ mile. Ensure that Burros operating within this range can maintain line-of-sight with the Base Station.

3

Powering On

  • Locate the power button on the Base Station and press it to turn the unit on.
  • After powering on, raise the Base Station to the highest point possible to improve signal reception.
4

Do Not Move

Once the Base Station is powered on, it is crucial that the unit remains stationary. Moving the Base Station after it has begun operation can disrupt its ability to maintain a stable connection with satellites.

  • If relocation is necessary:
    • Turn off the base station by pressing the power button.
    • Move the Base Station to its new location, ensuring it has a clear view of the sky, then power it back on to re-establish connections.
