⭐️ New Features

Smooth Stops and 5MPH on Grande

The Grande will now come to a smooth stop when it encounters an obstacle, preventing buckling of trailers when towing. This feature is enabled by default at all speeds up to 5MPH.

  • To travel at 5 MPH, you’ll need to update the speed limits on respective segments using Atlas.
  • The default speed is set to 2.6 MPH to prevent high speed on narrow/risky segments.
  • Best Practice:
    • Enable 5 MPH on open roads with flat surfaces where trailers can operate safely.
    • Maintain the default speed of 2.6 MPH indoors in greenhouses.

Reduced Unwanted Slow-Downs or Hard-Stops

Burros can now better identify ghost obstacles (including sharp sunlight and drastic changes in lighting conditions), allowing them to continue running without false positives that previously led to hard stops.

Route Previews

The on-robot UI will now display a preview of the route it will take on the map view in the Nursery UI.

New Global Statuses & Ranking

We’ve introduced new global system statuses to improve clarity and usability for the Nursery UI. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Multiple Statuses: Two or more statuses can be true at once, but only one status will be displayed at a time in the global status bar, based on a defined hierarchy (see below).
  • Interactive Statuses: Users can tap on certain statuses (like Lost, Slow, or Obstacle) to view additional information or follow instructions for resolution.

Status Hierarchy (From Highest to Lowest Priority)

  1. NEW: Remote – Indicates that the remote control is engaged or pressed.
  2. Stopped – Signals a critical system fault that halts all movement.
  3. E-Stop – Activates when the bumper bar or stop button is pressed.
  4. Hill Stop – Triggered by hill detection.
  5. Obstacle – An obstacle has been detected by the system.
  6. Slow – Movement has slowed due to an issue such as software/hardware failure or poor localization.
  7. NEW: Person Follow – A user is operating the Burro in person-follow mode. This distinguishes the mode from Ready, ensuring users understand the system is in person-follow mode, not autonomous.
  8. Map Failed – The map failed to load properly.
  9. Lost – The Burro is not confident in its geolocation.
  10. Off Path – The system is off the DBR map.
  11. NEW: Loading – The UI or system is loading.
  12. NEW: Active – The Burro is actively traversing a route.
  13. Ready – The system is ready for autonomous operation.

🪄 Under-the-Hood Improvements

Improved Location Accuracy Indoors

Burros are now more cautious when estimating their location indoors, helping them stop safely if they lose track of their position. This reduces the risk of unexpected movement and results in fewer unwanted slow-downs and speed-ups, making for a smoother towing experience.

Deleted Destinations Fix

A UI bug where deleted destinations would re-appear on the UI has been resolved.
