Transporting
Before beginning the loading or unloading process of the Burro Grande using a ramp, it is essential to remove any payload from the top of the vehicle.
Safety Precautions
Under no circumstances should anyone stand in front of or behind the Burro while it is in motion on the ramp. The Burro’s weight, exceeding 1200 pounds, poses a significant risk of injury or fatality.
Ramp Specifications:
Check Ramp Weight Rating
Ensure the ramp has a weight rating of at least 1500 pounds, exceeding the Burro’s weight.
Check Ramp Incline
Confirm that the incline of the ramp does not exceed 20 degrees.
Chock Wheels and Secure Ramps
Chock the wheels of the vehicle into which the Burro is being loaded, and securely attach the ramps to prevent slippage.
Speed Settings:
Adjust the Burro’s speed settings to 1.0 m/s or less to maintain optimal safety during loading and unloading.
Maneuvering the Burro
Once all safety precautions are in place, the Burro can be safely maneuvered up or down the ramp using the Forward/Reverse function on the yellow button panel. These buttons provide manual control when the User Interface is in loading mode. It is advisable to stand to the side of the Burro during its movement to reduce potential risks.
Additionally, users may opt to utilize the Manual Control function within the User Interface. Operators should remain alongside the unit while using this mode to ensure safety.
Securing the Burro for Transport
When loading the Burro into a transport vehicle, ensure it is securely fastened before moving the vehicle. Use 2-inch ratchet tie-down straps with a working load limit of 1,500 lbs. Attach one strap to each corner of the Burro, connecting from the marked tie-down points on the Burro to appropriate structural anchor points in the transport vehicle (e.g., in the trailer or vehicle bed).
By following these guidelines, operators can ensure the safe and efficient loading and unloading of the Burro, protecting both personnel and equipment from potential hazards.
